Alexander Zverev has revealed his admiration for both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. He says that the duo have been a huge influence on his work to step up his own game. The German may be vastly inexperienced in the world of tennis compared with Federer and Nadal, but he is already being compared with the duo after making substantial improvements in the ATP rankings in 2017. The German has been able to rise 20 places in the table in 2017 alone and he is now ranked as the fourth best player in the world. The 20-year-old continued to keep his impressive form going after a stellar showing at the China Open, although he was unable to win the title.

The 20-year-old is certainly not keen on ending here, as he wants to keep on improving. His source of inspiration appears to be Nadal and Federer, players who have won 35 major titles in their careers, and the hard work done by them over the course of their career. Regarded as the best tennis stars of the recent generation, Nadal and Federer have dominated the game for more than a decade. Yet, there have been signs of a changing in guard over the last couple of years, although the duo proved that it was a false dawn after winning more major titles in 2017.

Zverev will have the opportunity to meet his idols at the upcoming ATP finals, as he has been able to reach this tournament. Zverev is deciding on his participation in the NextGen World Tour finals but the biggest expectation from the 20-year-old will be to do well in the Grand Slam tournaments. Despite having made substantial places in the ATP world rankings, he has not been able to go beyond the fourth round of a Grand Slam until now
