Rafael Nadal Looks to End 2017 Season on a High

Rafael Nadal has revealed that he is disappointed to have lost the Shanghai Rolex Masters. The Spaniard failed to win the tournament for the first time, while he also was unable to go beyond the 16 game winning and that he enjoyed over Roger Federer. After having recently won the US Open and China Open, Nadal was coming into the game with a lot of confidence. The defender is not to take away much of the confidence off the Spaniard considering that he was able to win those titles.

Speaking after the loss against Federer, he claimed that the entire Asian tour (including the China Open and Shanghai Rolex Masters) has been a positive one. As a result of picking up his 11th and 12th wins in his career coming into the final of the Shanghai Masters, Nadal was able to win against the likes of Marin Cilic – the No. 5 seed in the world – and Grigor Dimitrov (No. 8 seed) in the earlier rounds. Even though he was left disappointed with a loss against Federer, the Spaniard admitted that he could do little about the Swiss master, who was imperious in the game.

Even after this loss, Nadal will still be happy to come away with a brilliant 2017 as he has been able to win two titles in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and Grand Slams. There are concerns about Nadal not having great motivation coming into the event, but he dismissed those concerns by saying that he always tries to give his 100%. The Asian tour has already given him with the experience of playing in two finals and a few semifinals. Hence, he does not have any regrets going away from the Chinese tour. Nadal is now looking to end the 2017 season on a high.
